Water managed by Shetland Anglers Association
Houb at Gutcher lies immediately behind the shore of the Wick of Gutcher, beside the ferry terminal at Gutcher and separated from the sea by a narrow isthmus. This is a very small, shallow loch of just under 4 hectares, averaging about 3 metres in depth. The shoreline is simple and easily walked, the setting low and open, and the water has low alkalinity.
The loch holds mainly small trout, with a run of sea trout from August onwards. Access is straightforward: park in the ferry terminal car park and walk the short distance across to the loch, crossing the fence with care. Do not wade.
