Water managed by Shetland Anglers Association
Loch of Burraland lies close to the coast on low-lying ground. It is a broad, very shallow water of roughly 21 hectares. The water is peat-stained with moderate alkalinity, and the shoreline is moderately varied with a few small bays.
The loch holds trout averaging about 6 oz, and weed growth becomes dense from mid-season. It used to see a run of sea trout and the SAA has stocked the loch with sea-trout fry. Access is straightforward: park on the access road to the north of the loch for direct approach to the north shore.
