Kirriereoch Loch lies in the Dumfries and Galloway hills, a small moorland water set among peat at mid elevation. It is a very small, shallow loch of roughly 7 hectares, with low alkalinity and a humic character. The basin is simple and gently shelving, the shoreline uncomplicated and easy to follow on foot.

The loch holds a good head of wild brown trout, with fish to around 1 lb and the occasional larger specimen each season. Fishing is from the bank only; both fly and bait are permitted. Access is on foot from the nearby gate; cars should be parked there without blocking the entrance to the field.
