Water managed by Durness Limestone Lochs & River Fishing
Loch Borralie lies in the low ground of Highland Scotland, just under half a kilometre from the coast. The loch covers roughly 37 hectares with a moderately complex shoreline that includes bays and headlands, giving it a perimeter of nearly four kilometres. Set on marl geology, the water has high alkalinity and reaches a moderate depth of around five metres, though much of the southern end remains shallow enough for wading.
The loch holds wild brown trout and Arctic charr, with excellent average weights of 1.5lb and fish caught to over 5lb. The shallow southern end allows bank anglers to wade out and cover extensive water, while both sides of the loch drop quickly into deeper areas where fishing along the margins proves productive. Bank fishing between the island and shore yields good results, and a rocky outcrop to the north provides shelter from northerly winds. Boat fishing is generally productive across the entire loch.
