water managed by Durness and Kinlochbervie Angling Club
Loch na Gainimh lies north of Blairmore, close to the west Sutherland coast and set among low moorland. It is a small, shallow water of roughly 31 hectares with moderate alkalinity and a simple outline. The margins are generally low, with a broad sweep of sand along the south shore.
Trout here are small and lively; fish average 6–8 oz, with occasional reports of larger ones. Bank fishing is straightforward with comfortable wading, and the west and north shores produce best results.
Leave the car at Blairmore and walk north to the loch in about 18 minutes. The track runs for just under 1.5 km with a gentle rise, reaching the south side and then skirting the sandy shore for easy access around the water.
Visitor permits are available for anglers who wish to fish the club’s waters without full membership. These permits offer access to well-maintained fishing grounds in a quiet, scenic setting and help support the ongoing conservation and management of the fishery.
Both experienced anglers and newcomers are welcome. By purchasing a permit, visitors are able to enjoy a day’s fishing while contributing to the care and sustainability of the waters.
